January. The month of reflection. Resolutions. New diets. New workouts. Vowing to change.
I did all that. I looked back on a few things. I praised God for where we are now, but I knew I need to change things. 2016 brough BIG changes for our family. Selling a house (I never want to do that again), finding the perfect home for us, moving my business.
I had seen a nationally known photographer post about a "Word of the Year". It resonated with me. I needed that. One word to help me push forward. One word to help me plan, work, move towards the future. I found my word.
I needed to be intentional. Intentional in what I do for my business, what I post, what I capture, what I learn, how I grow. Be intentional.
I needed to be intentional with my health. I can no longer use getting up at 5am and getting home at 5pm from a classroom of Kinders as my excuse to not workout. I have to take control. Be healthy for my family. But, I have to be intentional about it. So, I joined Weight Watchers. To force myself to do better. To be intentional.
I needed to be intentional with my family. Spending time with them, enjoying this stage of life. Where my girls are. Oh, of course we have struggles. I saw a GIF on Facebook last night (that I cannot find anywhere) where it was clips from movies, basically as characters were saying/screaming "No. No. No" and the title above was, "How I feel when my child gets out of bed for the 50th time". Yes, that struggle. We have that.
Of course, past our struggles, I love my family. I love my girls. I am blessed to be their mom. And I want them to know without a doubt, that I feel that way. In order to do that, I have to be intentional.
After noticing how little I had been taking photos of my girls (with the BIG camera, not my phone) over the past few years, I vowed to change that. So, January 1st I began taking at least ONE photo of my girls a day. Some kinda staged (because I forgot), most not. So, on this 1st Friday of 2017, here are a few more images I took this week.
But this post is also a challenge. For you to pick a word. A word to help motivate you towards your goals. Whatever they may be. If you have a word, share it below! It's ok if more than one person has the same word. It may resonate with each of us differently. Which makes sense. We are all different.
Now to be intentional with house cleaning. Not exciting, but for certain needed.
