So, on Instagram (or IG as I am a lazy typer) and Facebook I often hashtag #capturinglife on my photos. Why? Because often times I want to capture REAL life. Not some set up, posed, "perfect for the world to see" life, but REAL messy, not perfect life. SO many people only let you see the perfect stuff and I don't get it. I mean we all have flaws, all our kids cry or throw tantrums over random things. There are times when we lose it an yell more than we would like, say "No" alot, and start a game of hide and seek just so we can bring our phone, find a good spot and enjoy the alone time while they can't find you. (not that I ever did that. But you know, people could.)
This may surprise you, but like everyone most of the time, I use my phone to take pictures. I know, right?
I own a fancy camera that is capable of awesomeness and I use the trusty old Samsung (take that iPhone peeps, lol). But I have made a vow to myself to Capture Life more with the real camera. Why? Because when we look back, years from now when our house is quiet and clean, we will enjoy those images. Be them in well put together fancy scrapbooks (I did that for 3 years, go me) or in a photo box completely unorganized (that may be how I roll now). We will have them. To remember tiny hands, little attitudes, silly faces and all that comes with it.
Now you may be asking, "Why are you telling me this? How am I supposed to do that?" No, we can't capture life everyday. But pick a day every now and then. And capture the complete normalcy of life. Games they play, food they eat, how they sit at the table, or lay on the floor, favorite toys, books, whatever. The details. Curls in their hair you know they will outgrow. Chubby arms and legs, or dirty feet from outside play. Whatever details you realize you never want to forget about right now. Things that shortly will all change. If you have a DSLR use it. If you don't know how to shoot manual (which, if there are enough people I may have to look into a Parent course again this winter), then put it on Auto. Your not breaking any laws and the photos are yours none the less. Not perfection. Don't clean the house first. Just Capture Life. Messy, unorganized, not perfect, fabulous, wonderful, crazy life.
I did just this yesterday. And I will periodically do it throughout the year and share with you. Keep scrolling for a small peek into my not perfect, messy hair don't care, play with our food, life. And the dog. Because he looked cute.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
